After 38 years in print journalism, including four years as Editor of Rotary Down Under and 20 years at The Canberra Times, Mark Wallace has retired to concentrate on his impending District responsibilities and to take up the challenge of expanding his photographic hobby business.

He spends much of his time between his club and professional Rotary roles talking to clubs all over Australia on Rotary's public image and the role each Rotarian plays in that image.

In 2012 he led a Group Study Exchange team of four journalists to the United Kingdom, the first step in his master plan to indoctrinate the world's journalists – one by one if necessary – into the wonderful ways of Rotary.

Mark is a member of the Rotary Club of Bowral-Mittagong but before moving there in 2012, was twice president of the Rotary Club of Crows Nest in Sydney and is a former member of the Rotary Club of Canberra City. He is a Paul Harris Fellow with five sapphires, mostly because he is also a proud member of the Paul Harris Society.

Although divorced, Mark has been engaged to the love of his life, Fran, for more than 15 years and they are currently living happily ever after in Colo Vale, near Mittagong in the Southern Highlands of NSW
