Dream Cricket Project
The E-Club was honoured to receive the District 9710 Award for Youth Projects for theCanberrra Festival of DreamCricket at the District Changeover in Bateman's Bay on June28th. There have been two excellent opportunities for promoting the DreamCricket program in the past two months. First, in early June, the Rotary International Convention in Sydney offered the opportunity through the generosity of the Port of Brisbane Club to host a stall in the House of Friendship and to make a presentation to potential donors at a Rotary Projects workshop. The second opportunity was the annual District Governor Elect Training session in Sydney on the 27th July. A half-hour presentation allowed the DGE's from all over Australia and New Zealand to be introduced to the program. As a result we have already received requests from a District in Central Queensland to conduct gala days and clinics and other similar requests are expected.
We now have 12 Districts where DreamCricket Ambassadors have been trained to conduct Gala Days and school clinics and 6 more events are planned before the end of the year.
The next Festival of DreamCricket in Canberra will be held over two weeks in late March 2015, again with the support of Cricket ACT. A program of visits to Canberra Rotary clubs is planned between now and the end of the year to spread the word about
DreamCricket and invite them to participate in this rewarding program.
